Folding Tumbling Mat FAQs
- What thickness tumbling mat do I need?
- Go 1.5" for general tumbling, drills, and floor skills where you want a fast, responsive surface. 2" is the sweet spot for most home and club use — enough cushion for repetition without feeling soft. Step up to 2.5" when athletes are working higher-impact landings.
- What size tumbling mat should I get?
- A 4x6 fits tight spaces and works for conditioning, stretching, and single skills. A 5x10 is the everyday club and home-gym size — long enough for handsprings and short passes. A 6x12 gives you a real tumbling lane, and mats with velcro connect end to end to build a full run.
- What's the difference between your foam types?
- Polyethylene is firmer and more supportive, so it stays fast underfoot for tumbling. Urethane is softer with more give, which suits skill work and landings. We also build a combination core that pairs urethane over polyethylene for graduated support — forgiving on contact, firm underneath.
- Do I need velcro on my mat?
- Yes, if you plan to connect multiple mats into a continuous run. Velcro edges lock mats together so seams stay closed under tumbling traffic. If the mat will be used on its own, you can skip it.
- Are these mats made in the USA?
- Yes. Every mat is manufactured in the USA by our family-owned company, which has been building athletic mats for more than 65 years. Nothing is drop-shipped from overseas.
- How long does delivery take?
- Every mat is made to order in the size, fold, and color you choose from our 16 standard colors. Typical lead time is 4-5 weeks before your mat ships.
